About This Access Site
McCown Valley Park offers convenient access to Lake Whitney on the Brazos River in central Texas. The facility features a **three-lane boat ramp with a courtesy dock** and dedicated parking area, making it well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp is located on the east shore at mid-lake and is open year-round, though day-use fees apply April through September.

**Getting There:** From Whitney, take FM 933 north and turn left on FM 1713 Spur; the park is at the end of the road. The site is about 12 miles west of I-35 in Hillsboro via Highway 22.

**Amenities & Facilities:** Beyond the boat ramp, McCown Valley provides flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station. The park includes five miles of trails, a playground, and sits among scenic rolling hills with cedar, live oak, and post oak forests. Wildlife viewing opportunities include deer and wild turkeys. For overnight stays, the facility is a reservable campground; call **254-622-3332** for more information or reservations. Note that the park is not ADA accessible.

Boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking are popular activities at Whitney Lake. Anglers can fish for a variety of bass, crappie and catfish with a state fishing license.Facilities
This year-round campground offers a variety of sites to suit all kinds of campers, including 39 equestrian sites, 48 family sites, five sleeping shelters, and a day-use picnic shelter, all with electric and/or water hookups. 13 primitive tent sites are also available.

Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station. A boat ramp, playground and trails are also on-site.Natural Features
The park is situated on the lakeshore among gently rolling hills covered with cedar, Live oak and Post oak. Deer and wild turkeys roam the area.
