McCreery is a public boat access point on the New River in Raleigh County, located within New River Gorge National Park & Preserve. This site provides launch access to one of North America's oldest and most scenic rivers, known for its rugged beauty and dramatic canyon walls. The New River flows northward through deep gorges and is popular for a range of paddling experiences, from leisurely floats to whitewater adventure depending on water conditions and your skill level.
The ramp is maintained by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources as part of the state's extensive network of public water access sites. Paddlers should note that McCreery provides basic boat launch access; facilities and amenities vary at state-maintained ramps. Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles of the site (including Thayer, Meadow Creek, and Glade Creek Campgrounds), making it convenient for multi-day paddling trips. Before launching, check current water conditions and flow rates, as the New River's character changes significantly with water levels.
