The Pascagoula River is a substantial stream (Stream Order 9) with an average flow of 16,202 cubic feet per second and an average velocity of 3.19 feet/second. With a gentle 0.5 ft/mile gradient and 81 miles to the river mouth, the river becomes increasingly influenced by tidal conditions as you head downstream. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for this dynamic water and plan accordingly, especially when approaching the estuarine reach near the Gulf of Mexico.
