**Location & Access**
McKeown Access is located on 231st Street (County Road G-28) on the west side of the Cedar River Bridge, approximately 6.5 miles west of Muscatine near Nichols in Muscatine County. The seven-acre site is managed by the Muscatine County Conservation Board and features a public boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats onto the Cedar River.
**Facilities & Activities**
The access point includes a boat ramp, parking, and bank fishing opportunities. The site closes at 10:30 p.m. This is a good put-in location for paddlers looking to explore the Cedar River, with the next public access to the south located at River Forks Access near Fredonia in Louisa County. Anglers also frequent the site for river fishing.
**Paddling Notes**
Be aware of changing river conditions—the Cedar River in this area has been experiencing some channel shifts with sand accumulation and fallen trees. Paddlers should stay alert for obstacles and monitor current conditions before launching, especially if exploring downstream.
