About This Access Site
McMahon Lake is a 162-acre public access lake located in Scott County near Prior Lake, Minnesota, with a maximum depth of 14 feet. The primary boat launch is located off Mushtown Road/C.R. 87 and is managed by the Minnesota DNR. Most standard recreational boats up to 12-18 feet can be launched here, and there are no launch fees unless a vehicle permit is required by the managing park.

Paddlers and boaters should be aware that McMahon Lake is listed as impaired for nutrients and mercury. Additionally, high water conditions (when lake levels exceed 965.2 feet NVGD 29) trigger no-wake restrictions. The relatively shallow maximum depth of 14 feet makes this lake suitable for calm-water paddling and recreational boating. For current access conditions, amenities, or specific details about launch facilities, check the Minnesota DNR Lake Finder database before your visit.
