About This Access Site
The Meadowbrook access site on State Park Road provides convenient boat launch facilities for paddlers and boaters accessing Big Stone Lake. Located at Lagoona Beach in Big Stone County, this ramp offers one of two primary access points to the 26-mile long lake, with the northern location providing access to the upper portions of the water body. The site features wooden docks alongside the launch area, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats of various sizes.

Big Stone Lake offers excellent paddling and fishing opportunities across a large freshwater system. The lake supports healthy populations of walleye, northern pike, bluegill, yellow perch, crappie, and largemouth bass, attracting anglers and recreational boaters throughout the season. The area also provides scenic views and access to nearby natural areas, including the Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge and Northern Tallgrass Prairie National Wildlife Refuge, which enhance the paddling experience with opportunities for wildlife observation. Visitors should note that Riverside Park Boat Launch provides an alternative access point on the lake's southeast corner if needed.
