Mecan Springs offers a convenient public boat ramp located on the northeast shore near Coloma in Waushara County. This is an excellent access point with free parking available for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters. The ramp provides reliable access to Mecan Springs, which reaches depths of up to 20 feet and supports a healthy fishery including panfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, and trout.
Paddlers using this launch will find a pleasant south-central Wisconsin paddling experience with good water quality and attractive wooded shorelines. The Mecan River offers several paddling distances from this point: a 1.4-mile segment downstream to 9th Avenue, or a shorter 0.6-mile paddle to Highway GG. For the best paddling conditions, upstream segments tend to feature less mud, better current, clearer water, and more scenic banks than lower sections of the river.
