About This Access Site
Meder Lake is a 135-acre public access lake located near Mellen in Ashland County, offering a convenient boat ramp for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The lake has a maximum depth of 10 feet, making it suitable for recreational paddling and fishing. Access is available via a public boat landing off Forest Service Road 187, approximately one mile from the nearby Mineral Lake Campground.

The lake supports a healthy fishery including panfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye, making it popular with anglers. From Mellen, take County Highway GG west about 9 miles toward the Mineral Lake Campground area to locate the access point. The surrounding area is within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, offering additional opportunities for exploring nearby waterways and connecting to the North Country National Scenic Trail for land-based recreation.

The forest is home to hundreds of miles of off-road vehicle, hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as numerous lakes, ponds and rivers to sink a line or launch a boat. Access to the North Country National Scenic Trail, which traverses thousands of miles from New York to North Dakota, is available nearby.Facilities

Natural Features
The 256-acre Mineral Lake is surrounded by a mixed hardwoods forest. Several campsites overlook the lake and the area is home to a variety of birds, including eagles, and plentiful wildlife.

Nearby Attractions
Morgan Falls and St. Peter's Dome, the highest peak in the forest, are both located nearby and make excellent day trips.
