Mermet State Lake

Mermet Lake is a 452-acre shallow impoundment located in Massac County, Illinois, approximately 10 miles north of Metropolis. The access site features four boat launching ramps suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. Motors up to 10 hp are permitted on the lake, with a maximum depth of 12 feet. All roads to the State Fish and Wildlife Area are paved, and internal roads are primarily gravel and accessible by standard vehicles, making access straightforward for most boaters.

This site is ideal for recreational paddlers and anglers targeting a variety of fish species including largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie.
