Mermet State Lake

Mermet State Lake offers a convenient public boat launch in Massac County, approximately 10 miles north of Metropolis. The 452-acre lake features four launching ramps suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. Motorized vessels are permitted with engines up to 10 horsepower, making it accessible for both paddlers and small boat operators. All roads to the site are paved, with gravel roads within the area that should be passable by standard vehicles.

The shallow lake, with a maximum depth of 12 feet, is well-suited for recreational paddling and fishing. The site is particularly popular with anglers targeting largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie.
