Merritt's Mill Pond - Hunter Fish Camp Landing Public Boat Ramp

Merritt's Mill Pond is a scenic 200-acre freshwater pond located in Jackson County, Florida, near Marianna. The pond stretches approximately 4 miles in length with crystal-clear spring water, making it an attractive destination for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters. The water is calm and non-tidal, with easy paddling conditions suitable for paddlers of all skill levels. The pond's width of a few hundred yards provides an accessible, manageable paddling environment without strong currents or significant obstacles.

The Hunter Fish Camp Landing public boat ramp is located off US 90 near the dam on the northwest side of the bridge. To access it, take SR 71 north from Marianna for 1.1 miles to SR 164 (1.8 miles), then head south on Hunter Fish Camp Road to reach the ramp. Note that a launch fee applies at this location. The area is known for excellent fishing opportunities, and nearby attractions include Blue Springs and Florida Caverns State Park, which make excellent base camps for exploring the region.
