About This Access Site
The Messer Street Boat Ramp at 202 Messer Street in Laconia provides public access to Lake Opechee, a 427-acre water body in New Hampshire's Lakes Region. This facility, operated through an agreement between Eversource, local landowners, and the City of Laconia, features a concrete log ramp with paved parking and trailer access, making it convenient for launching both motorized and non-motorized vessels. The ramp is located on the south end of the lake near Opechee Park and is open for public use at no charge.

Lake Opechee accommodates a mix of watercraft, though a 6 MPH speed restriction applies in some areas of the lake, making it relatively pleasant for kayakers, canoeists, and paddleboarders. The smaller lake size and moderate motorized traffic create good conditions for paddling. Nearby Franklin Falls Dam on the Pemigewasset River offers additional recreation opportunities for those interested in exploring the broader watershed and connecting waterways in the region.
