About This Access Site
Miami State Recreation Area offers a private boat ramp providing access to Mississinewa Lake, a 3,300-acre flood-control reservoir in north-central Indiana. The ramp is ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats onto tranquil waters perfect for paddling and exploration. The lake's name derives from the Miami Indian word meaning "water on a slope," reflecting its historic significance in the region.

The recreation area includes full campground amenities such as a shower house, comfort stations, and an amphitheater, with both RV and tent camping available seasonally. ADA-accessible sites and waterfront camping spots can be reserved, and pets are welcome. Visitors will also find a campground host on-site and opportunities for fishing and hunting in addition to paddling and boating. The facility is conveniently located in Pioneer, Wabash County, making it accessible from South Bend (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away) and other surrounding communities.
