About This Access Site
Mid-Drift is a boat ramp access point on the Little Deschutes River near La Pine, located conveniently close to Wyeth Campground on the Deschutes National Forest. The area offers a good launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and drift boaters exploring this section of river. Wyeth Campground is available for overnight stays (reservable through Recreation.gov) and is situated downstream from Wickiup Reservoir, making it an ideal base for multi-day trips.

**Access & Permits:** The ramp is located approximately 8 miles north of Maupin on the Deschutes River Access Road (turn right on State Highway 216 for 0.5 miles, then left on the gravel BLM access road for 0.4 miles). A **Deschutes Boater Pass** is required year-round for all watercraft and floating devices—purchase online at boaterpass.com or at local vendors. An Aquatic Invasive Species permit is also required for manually powered boats 10 feet or longer, including kayaks, canoes, and drift boats.

**Amenities & Nearby Options:** The concrete ramp includes a courtesy dock for easy boat access. Several additional campgrounds are within 10 miles, including Fall River, McKay Crossing, and Prairie campgrounds (all reservable). Recreation
Paddling and fishing are popular activities in this area. Motorized boating is not permitted on this stretch of the Deschutes River.
Facilities
Wyeth Campground can accommodate RV, trailer or tent-campers, however, electric and water hookups are not available. Campers will need to bring their own water supply. All sites are equipped with a picnic table and fire pit and the campground has vault toilets available. This facility also has a boat ramp to provide access to the Deschutes River.

Visitors can explore wilderness areas, rivers, lakes and reservoirs, and approximately hundred of miles of trail. Visitors can explore Lava River Cave, the longest continuous lava tube in Oregon. Visitors enjoy traveling the Cascade Lakes Scenic Bywaywhich climbs 66 miles through the Cascade Range, weaving past snow-capped peaks and alpine lakes.
