Mile Post 10 is a public access point on the Yakima River near Roza in Kittitas County, located just off Old Highway 10 approximately half a mile upstream of the Town Diversion Dam. The ramp provides a valuable launch and takeout opportunity for kayakers, canoeists, and anglers accessing this scenic section of the river. To reach the site, turn south onto a dirt road at SR-970 Mile 2.5 (near the SR-970/SR-10 junction), cross the railroad tracks, and continue about 0.24 mile to the river.
This section of the Yakima River features the dramatic scenery of the Yakima River Canyon, where the water winds through rolling desert hills and basalt cliffs rising over 2,000 feet. Boaters should note that this ramp is positioned upstream of the Roza Diversion Dam, and portaging around the dam or negotiating the drop may be necessary depending on flow conditions. The property is currently owned by the Washington Department of Transportation and offers limited walk-and-wade opportunities without bushwhacking, making it best suited for paddlers planning a full day float (6+ hours at a fishing pace) with approximately 12+ miles of river travel. Check current water conditions and flow levels before launching.
