About This Access Site
Mims Chapel Park offers a two-lane boat ramp on the east side of Lake O' the Pines, making it a straightforward access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The ramp is maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. Note that there is no boat dock at this location, and parking is limited—the lot can only accommodate a few trucks and trailers, so plan accordingly during busy periods.

To reach the ramp from Lone Star, take US 259 south and turn left on FM 729 before the Big Cypress Creek bridge; the ramp entrance is approximately 1 mile south of this intersection. Lake O' the Pines spans about 18,700 acres of water in the piney woods of Northeast Texas, providing ample paddling and boating opportunities. For those planning an extended trip, nearby campgrounds at Johnson Creek Camp and Alley Creek Camp offer reservable camping options within 10 miles.
