Moccasin Creek Boat Ramp provides access to Moccasin Creek and the larger Lake Burton in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Clarkesville, Georgia. The ramp is located next to the Lake Burton Fish Hatchery, allowing access to this trout-filled waterway.
The boat ramp has two docks with cleat anchors to facilitate launching and loading kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. Private boats are permitted, but the creek and adjacent lake are only open to seniors 65 and older, children 11 and younger, and those with a Georgia disability fishing license. Paddlers should be prepared for the natural character of Moccasin Creek, which may have varying water levels and flows depending on rainfall.
Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles of the boat ramp, including Tate Branch, Tallulah River, and Andrew's Cove, providing options for overnight stays. For more information or questions, visitors can contact the nearby Nature Center or call 706-947-3194.
