The Moccasin Creek boat ramp provides access to both Moccasin Creek and the larger Lake Burton in Rabun County, Georgia. Located next to the Lake Burton Fish Hatchery, this is a public boat launch site that permits private boats. The ramp has two docks with cleat anchors to assist with launching and loading.
While the Moccasin Creek boat ramp is open for public use, there are a couple other public launch sites on Lake Burton that may be preferable options during certain times. The Murray's Cove public boat ramp, located off Bridge Creek Road, and the LaPrade's Marina boat ramp, about 1.5 miles south of Moccasin Creek, are two other access points to consider. Paddlers and small boaters should be aware that the Moccasin Creek boat ramp may experience higher traffic or temporary closures.
Nearby, the Hemlock Falls Hiking Trailhead provides a 1-mile hike to scenic waterfalls, and several campgrounds within 10 miles offer accommodations for those looking to explore the Chattahoochee National Forest and Lake Burton area. For any questions about the Moccasin Creek access, visitors can contact the Nature Center or call 706.947.3194.
