**Access & Facilities**
The Modoc boat ramp offers convenient public access to J. Strom Thurmond Lake with ample parking and a courtesy dock. The facility is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation area and includes four bathhouses with flush toilets and showers throughout the campground. A complimentary washer and dryer are available for registered campers.
**Lake Overview**
J. Strom Thurmond Lake is the largest Corps of Engineers lake east of the Mississippi River, spanning 70,000 acres with approximately 1,200 miles of shoreline. This substantial impoundment offers excellent boating conditions for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The area provides additional amenities including nature trails, beaches, and a playground. Cell coverage in the area is generally good for ATT and Verizon. The facility operates seasonally (March 31 - September 30) and offers campground accommodations starting at $18/night.
