Moncove Lake State Park offers a convenient public boat ramp and fishing access on a peaceful 250-acre lake nestled in the scenic hills of southeastern West Virginia. The ramp provides easy launch access for kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and small motorboats (motors limited to less than 5 hp). The park also features dry dock storage near the launch and boat rental services available through the park office, making it an accessible option for paddlers without their own watercraft.
The surrounding ridges and forests create an attractive paddling environment on the calm, 500-acre lake and adjacent Wildlife Management Area. In addition to the main ramp at Moncove Lake, boaters have access to other launch points upstream at Iron Gate (approximately 20 minutes away) and downstream at Glen Wilton (about one hour away), providing flexibility for multi-point trips. Steel Bridge Campground is available nearby for overnight trips.
