About This Access Site
Monterrey Park provides convenient access to Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a massive 114,000-acre impoundment in Angelina County's Big Thicket country. The facility features a concrete boat ramp suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger recreational boats. This is one of 22 maintained access areas around the reservoir, making it a reliable option for paddlers and boaters exploring the lake.

The site operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a day-use boat launch fee of $5.00 per vehicle. Camping is also available for $6.00 per night (includes parking for up to 2 vehicles). Payment can be made on-site, with the option to use the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature if available. The reservoir's vast acreage and location within Angelina National Forest provide excellent paddling opportunities in a scenic, biodiverse setting known for native flora and wildlife.
