Montour Preserve

**Location & Access:** The Montour Preserve boat ramp, located in Exchange, Montour County, provides the only motorized and non-motorized boating access to Lake Chillisquaque. The 165-acre lake is situated within the Montour Preserve, a comprehensive recreational facility featuring over ten miles of trails, fishing piers, wildlife observation areas, and educational facilities.

**Paddling & Boating Rules:** Pennsylvania-registered, self-powered boats (including kayaks and canoes) are welcome on the lake. No launch permits are required, though voluntary launch tags are encouraged. Swimming is not permitted. Night boating is allowed from the Heron Cove boat launch area with proper lighting, though the Goose Cove side closes at dark. Note that dogs (except service dogs) are not allowed at the preserve, even in watercraft. Boat rentals are available through the Montour Area Recreation Commission if you don't have your own vessel.

**Amenities & Hours:** The preserve operates dawn to dark, with extended night fishing hours available from the Heron Cove parking area. Facilities include pit toilets, a visitors' center, pavilions, children's play areas, and a variety of scenic trails. This makes Montour Preserve an excellent destination for paddlers seeking a full recreational experience beyond just water access.
