Monument River Park provides a developed BLM boat ramp on river right, located approximately 0.5 miles downstream of Highway 402 Bridge near Monument, Oregon. This access point serves as a convenient take-out for paddlers and boaters running the North Fork John Day River. The ramp is relatively small and may require care when launching or retrieving trailers in higher water conditions, but offers shore space for loading and unloading boats.
**Getting There:** From Dale, head north on Highway 395 toward Monument. After crossing the bridge over the river, continue about 1-2 miles and turn left onto Forest Service Road 3963 (also marked as a bridge crossing). Bear left and follow the short road down to the ramp on river right.
This location works well as an intermediate or final take-out for North Fork John Day paddlers, particularly those running whitewater sections with Class III rapids. Big Bend Campground is available within 10 miles for those planning overnight trips. Check current water levels and conditions before launching, as the river's character and ramp accessibility can vary significantly with seasonal flows.
