Moon Reservoir is a 253-acre lake in scenic Harney County, Oregon, offering excellent access for paddlers and boaters of all types. The recreation site features a public boat launch designed for small boats, making it ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and anglers. The calm reservoir waters are well-suited for paddling, with opportunities to fish for tiger trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, kokanee salmon, and splake.
The recreation area is well-developed with 22 acres of facilities including 15 campsites (with no RV size limit), picnic areas, accessible toilets, and potable water. An ADA-accessible facility is available. Note that camping is limited to 15 days. Beyond paddling, the site serves as a trailhead for excellent hiking and equestrian opportunities, including the Lake Fork Trail and Brown Duck Mountain Loop, which provide access to the High Uintas Wilderness and numerous alpine lakes for backcountry exploration.
