Mooney Dam Park

Mooney Dam Park provides boat access to Lower Eau Claire Lake, located approximately 11-13 miles east of Gordon via County Road Y in Douglas County. The park features a boat launch facility alongside camping amenities, making it a convenient base for extended paddling trips. Note that the boat ramp is reported to be steep, and the access area has limited waterfront space.

The park operates seasonally (typically opening two Fridays before Memorial Day through one week after Labor Day) and offers both electric and non-electric campsites with fire rings, picnic tables, vault toilets, and a picnic shelter. The area is known for good fishing opportunities. All campsites operate on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Paddlers planning overnight trips should arrive early during peak season to secure camping spots, and should be prepared for the steep ramp conditions when launching and retrieving vessels.
