Moorehead Park provides free public access to Lake Kerr, one of Marion County's largest sinkhole lakes, with a maintained boat ramp, parking for approximately a dozen trailers, and essential facilities including restrooms and picnic tables. This two-acre park is an excellent launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the scenic lake, which features a wide arc configuration that extends into Little Lake Kerr and Salt Springs. The facility is located off Forest Road 11 in the Ocala National Forest area.
Lake Kerr is well-suited for multiple water activities beyond paddling, including bass fishing, sailing, and water skiing. Paddlers will appreciate the lake's size and diverse character, making it ideal for day trips or longer exploration. Note that parking is limited, with space primarily available at the ramp itself and along the side of the access road. Several nearby campgrounds—including Lake Delancy West, Hopkins Prairie, and Lake Eaton—offer convenient overnight options for those planning extended outings in the area.
