About This Access Site
Jewett Cove at Moosehead Lake offers boat ramp access to Maine's largest lake outside of Acadia. This 26,200-acre water body features exceptionally clean, cool waters with a maximum depth of 150 feet, making it popular for boating, fishing, and paddling during warm-weather months. The lake supports populations of landlocked salmon and brook trout, attracting anglers year-round.

Paddlers and boaters should be aware that hazard buoys mark shallow areas beginning 200 feet from shore, and caution is advised in shallow bays and coves—including near Jewett Cove itself. Water levels typically drop at least three feet by late fall, which may affect launch and paddling conditions. The lake is well-established with multiple access points and facilities in the region, including nearby camping options and services in Greenville.

Check current water conditions and obtain a detailed lake map before your visit. Maine State Parks facilities in the area may charge day-use fees; visit MaineStateParkPass.com for current information and reservation details.
