Rowell Cove at Moosehead Lake State Park offers excellent access to Maine's largest lake outside of Acadia. Located 9 miles north of Greenville on the lake's east shore, the facility features two trailerable boat ramps with ample parking and boat slips, making it ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The day-use area includes a sandy beach and picnic facilities, with a 2-mile walking trail connecting to nearby campsites.
The 925-acre state park is open year-round for day use, with camping available mid-May through mid-October. Moosehead Lake is a large, scenic water body offering diverse paddling opportunities, from protected coves to longer open-water crossings. Paddlers should be prepared for variable conditions, as the lake can be exposed to wind. The park's location provides convenient access to explore the lake's extensive shoreline and nearby islands, several of which are accessible only by water and managed as public lands.
