About This Access Site
The Morse Lake Wildlife Area offers a hard surface boat ramp located on the east side of Morse Lake near the Carrigan Road Bridge in Belmond, Wright County. This is the only public boat launch access point on the lake, making it the primary entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The facility features a dedicated parking area, though weekend traffic can fill the lot quickly—arriving early is recommended to secure a space with no overflow parking available.

Boating conditions on Morse Lake are suitable for various water craft, and the lake is popular for fishing, particularly along the shoreline and near the dam. Note that Morse Lake is not a state-managed water body, so a DNR permit is not required for launching. There is a launch fee to put your boat in the water, though retrieval is free. The area provides good access for both recreational paddling and fishing pursuits throughout the boating season.
