About This Access Site
Mott Park provides access to the Waxahachie Creek arm of Bardwell Lake, located on the western shore less than an hour south of Dallas-Fort Worth. The park features a four-lane boat ramp with parking for approximately 40 vehicles, making it well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. A day-use fee of $5 per vehicle covers ramp access along with picnic areas, showers, and fishing facilities. The park also offers a courtesy dock and swimming area for additional water recreation.

**Directions & Amenities:** From Ennis, take Texas 34 south toward Bardwell Lake, then turn right onto the unpaved road leading to the park entrance. The ramp is located in the upper reaches of the lake near the confluence of Mustang Creek and Little Mustang Creek. On-site facilities include public restrooms with showers, two designated fishing areas, and a grassy, partially forested setting with open space. Camping is available with reservations through Recreation.gov ($14-$16 per night); contact 972-875-5711 for more information.

The area supports healthy fish and wildlife populations, making it popular for both paddling and fishing. The lake was built in 1965 for flood control and is situated in the Blackland Prairie region of southwestern Ellis County.
