About This Access Site
This carry-in access point on Mud Lake is located approximately 10 miles north of Buhl, MN off Highway 25. The parking area is situated about ¼ mile from the water, requiring a short carry to reach the lake. A Minnesota state park sticker is required, and a self-pay station is available at the entrance. The parking area offers ample space, and outhouses are located just east of the main landing area.

Mud Lake is a small backcountry destination with two campsites available on the water, making it suitable for day trips or overnight paddling adventures. Nearby lakes including Dark Lake, Knuckey Lake, and Clear Lake offer additional exploration opportunities for kayakers and canoeists. Be aware that goose droppings may be present around the ramp area, so watch your footing when launching. Limited alternate access options exist for this lake, so plan accordingly if this is your intended paddling destination.
