The Mud Lake boat ramp provides public access to Vails Lake, a 161-acre lake in Eden Valley, Stearns County. This is a state park facility with a self-pay station at the entrance and ample parking available. The ramp can accommodate boats up to 12-18 feet, making it suitable for most recreational kayaks, canoes, and smaller motorboats. Facilities include outhouses located just east of the main landing area.
Paddlers and boaters should be aware that goose droppings are common on the ramp, so watch your footing when launching. With a maximum depth of 20 feet, Vails Lake offers decent water for recreational use, though alternate access points are limited in this area. Since this is a state park facility, you'll need a valid Minnesota state park vehicle permit to use the access.
