Mud Lake (East)

Located near Deer River in Cass County, the Mud Lake East boat ramp provides public access to this 57-acre lake with a maximum depth of 65 feet. The ramp features a concrete launch suitable for small to medium-sized boats and kayaks/canoes. Ample parking is available, and outhouses are located just east of the main landing. A Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required, with a self-pay station at the entrance.

This is one of the few public access points for Mud Lake, making it a practical choice for paddlers and anglers looking to explore the area. The lake is popular for fishing (black crappie and bass) and offers scenic recreational opportunities. Note that goose droppings can accumulate at the ramp, so watch your footing when launching. The site's proximity to larger water bodies like Winnibigosh Lake and Leech Lake makes it a convenient base for exploring the Mississippi River Headwaters region.
