Located at mile 4.16 on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal near Seneca Falls, Mud Lock offers convenient access to both the Seneca River and Cayuga Lake. The site features a concrete boat ramp and floating dock, recently upgraded by NYS DEC, with restroom facilities and parking available. A general admission fee applies for vehicle parking.
This is an ideal stop for paddlers and boaters transiting the Cayuga-Seneca Canal section of the Erie Canal system. The ramp is positioned just before Lock CS1 (Mud Lock), making it useful for stretching, restroom breaks, or turnaround points. When approaching the lock, note that the river divides into two channels just before it—stay to the right bank and follow buoys carefully, as the western channel dead ends at a dam.
The site's proximity to Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge and Women's Rights National Historical Park adds recreational value for those interested in exploring the region's natural and historic attractions during their paddling trips.
