About This Access Site
Located in Paradise, Ohio County, the Musky Pit boat ramp provides downstream access to the Pond River within the Peabody Wildlife Management Area. This is a developing access point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters looking to explore the scenic sloughs, wetlands, and river habitat of this protected area. The ramp supports access to a 12-acre lake and the surrounding Pond River system, making it suitable for various paddling activities.

The area is known for excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, including bald eagles that nest nearby and hunt in the region, along with seasonal waterfowl populations. White bass runs occur around early April, attracting anglers. Parking is limited to designated areas and maintained roads only—do not block gates or access roads. Note that hunters are prohibited from discharging firearms within 100 yards of the boat ramp.

Interior access to the WMA is still being developed, with ongoing improvements planned for parking, signage, and facilities. Visitors are encouraged to check the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources website and social media for the latest information on access conditions and any updates to the site.
