About This Access Site
The Nahma DNR Boat Launch provides public access to Big Bay de Noc on Lake Michigan, making it a convenient entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters exploring this scenic northeast Michigan waterway. The launch accommodates both large and small watercraft and is located next to a resort facility that also offers boat rentals and slip access if needed. The surrounding area features approximately 14 miles of Big Bay de Noc shoreline, offering diverse paddling and fishing opportunities.

This location is well-positioned for exploring the broader Nahma Township water resources, which include numerous inland lakes and streams in addition to the bay. Paddlers should note that Big Bay de Noc is a Lake Michigan water body, so conditions can be variable—check weather forecasts before heading out. The area is situated between Escanaba (about 25 miles west) and Manistique (about 21 miles east), with Flowing Well Campground available nearby for multi-day trips.
