About This Access Site
Nash Hernandez Slipway is a dedicated boat ramp located on the east side of Austin, offering convenient access to Lady Bird Lake on the Colorado River. The facility features a proper concrete boat ramp with parking available, making it straightforward to launch kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. This is an ideal starting point for exploring some of the widest and most scenic sections of the lake, including popular paddling destinations like Fiesta Gardens and Snake Island.

From this launch, paddlers can navigate upstream and downstream along Lady Bird Lake's calm, urban waterway. The river widens considerably in this area before flowing through the Longhorn Dam to the east, offering excellent conditions for recreational paddling and wildlife viewing. The slipway's location on the east side of Austin makes it a practical alternative to other central launch points, particularly for those exploring the eastern portions of the lake.
