About This Access Site
Natchez Port provides public boat access to the Mississippi River at Natchez, Mississippi, located conveniently near the Natchez Visitor Center at the intersection of Canal Street and John R. Junkin Drive, just before crossing into Louisiana. This is a developed facility operated by the National Park Service and can be contacted at (601) 442-7047 for specific access conditions and details.

As a major river access point on the lower Mississippi, paddlers and boaters should be prepared for significant river conditions. The Mississippi River at this location is a major waterway (Stream Order 10) with an average flow of over 685,000 cubic feet per second and average velocities around 11 feet per second. Current can be swift, particularly during high water periods, making this suitable primarily for experienced paddlers and larger motorized vessels rather than casual kayakers or canoeists.

**Safety is critical on the Mississippi River—always wear your life jacket and be aware of barge traffic, strong currents, and changing water levels.** The nearby Natchez National Historical Park and St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge offer additional exploration opportunities in the area. For detailed current conditions, water levels, and specific ramp capabilities, contact the facility directly or consult local Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks resources.
