The Needles Marina boat ramp provides easy access to the Colorado River in Needles, California. This major river system flows over 1,700 kilometers (1,076 miles) from its headwaters in the Rocky Mountains to the Gulf of California. At the Needles location, the river is relatively wide and fast-flowing, with an average gradient of 8.7 feet per mile.
The marina offers a single boat launch ramp, as well as dry storage for up to 100 watercraft up to 28 feet in length. There are three carry-down walkways and one boarding float to assist with launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. Ample parking is available for vehicles with trailers.
Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for the dynamic nature of the Colorado River, with its high volume of flow and moderate current speeds averaging over 7 feet per second.
