Neosho Park offers public access to the Rubican River's Neosho Millpond, a 176-acre impoundment in Dodge County. The well-maintained boat ramp and parking area on the south shore are maintained by a local sportsman's club and provide reliable launch facilities for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The millpond is ideal for recreational paddling and fishing, with a maximum depth of 6 feet.
Paddlers should be aware that the millpond is a slow-moving, impounded section of the Rubicon River that continues to experience silting over time. Some shallow areas exist, particularly upstream, and the water widens considerably in places. The fishery includes panfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, carp, and bluegills. Those planning to paddle upstream into the Rubicon itself should expect narrow, wooded channels with rocky banks and potentially shallow, silted areas—conditions that will gradually limit navigability for smaller craft as siltation increases.
