The launch is located near the town of Angels Camp, about 60 miles upstream from the New Melones Dam. This is one of three public boat ramps at New Melones Lake, offering a good option for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.

The launch site has paved parking, restrooms, and picnic tables, making it a comfortable spot to prepare for your time on the water. Boaters should be aware that New Melones Lake is part of the Central Valley Project, operated by the Bureau of Reclamation. Access to the lake may require a day use or activity pass, which can be reserved in advance through Recreation.gov.

For paddlers, New Melones Lake provides a large expanse of calm water to explore, with scenic canyon walls and opportunities to spot wildlife along the shoreline. Those seeking more adventure can paddle up the Angels Creek arm of the reservoir. Conditions can change quickly on this reservoir, so all visitors are encouraged to practice safe boating and be prepared for variable wind and water levels.
