About This Access Site
Located below Nolin River Lake Dam and Spillway near Mammoth Cave, the Tailwater Day Use area offers a paved boat ramp providing convenient access to the Nolin River for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The facility is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and features restrooms, picnic tables, and a reservable group shelter, making it a well-equipped launch point for day trips. The distinctive blue-green water makes this an attractive paddling destination.

From this ramp, paddlers can explore scenic stretches of the Nolin River and potentially access routes toward Mammoth Cave National Park. The area is known for excellent fishing (catfish, bass, crappie, and walleye), so you may share the water with anglers. To reach the site from Bowling Green, take US 31W north approximately 14 miles, turn left on KY 101, which becomes KY 259 North—follow it for 11 miles, then turn right on KY 728 and look for signage to the tailwater area.

**Note:** Check current conditions before visiting, as water levels and ramp availability can be affected by dam operations. For the most up-to-date information, contact the facility at 270-286-4511.
