About This Access Site
The North Basins 1 & 2 boat ramp provides convenient water access to the Oakland Harbor, a major commercial port on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay. This public facility is suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.

The ramp is located in a protected harbor basin, offering relatively calm waters ideal for paddling and easy boat launching. However, boaters should be aware of the busy commercial traffic in the main harbor channel and exercise caution when entering or exiting the basin. The harbor can experience strong tidal currents, so paddlers should plan accordingly.

The North Basins are part of the larger Oakland Marina complex, which offers restrooms, parking, and other amenities for recreational users. Nearby attractions include the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary and historic Alcatraz Island, providing opportunities for further exploration by water. Boaters and paddlers are encouraged to check current conditions and obey all posted rules and regulations when using this access site.
