This access point on the North Concho River provides entry to O.C. Fisher Lake, a 5,440-acre reservoir created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1952 for flood control purposes. Located on the west side of San Angelo, the ramp offers convenient access to paddling and boating opportunities in a scenic semi-arid landscape of rolling hills and ranch land. The lake has a maximum depth of 58 feet with typical water level fluctuations of 6-8 feet, so water conditions can vary seasonally.
Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for the natural character of the North Concho River system—the river flows through areas with sand, gravel, and mud substrates with some bedrock sections, bordered by water-tolerant hardwoods and native vegetation. The immediate area upstream features Twin Buttes Reservoir approximately 6 miles south, offering additional recreational opportunities in the region.
**Important regulations:** Texas Parks and Wildlife fishing regulations apply, including a daily bag limit of 5 fish (all species combined) with only 1 black bass allowed, and black bass must be at least 14 inches. To prevent the spread of zebra mussels, boaters must drain all water from boats and onboard receptacles before leaving the water.
