North Fork Reservoir is a 350-acre impoundment on the Clackamas River located approximately 5.2 miles east of Estacada, making it a convenient destination for paddlers and boaters within an hour of Portland. The reservoir offers a calm-water paddling environment ideal for kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards. A dedicated access area for smaller watercraft is located just south of the northern boat ramp on the opposite side of Highway 224, providing easy launching for paddlers.
The main boat ramp is situated on the busy central portion of the lake where there are no speed restrictions, so paddlers should be prepared for motorboat traffic. The site includes ample parking with trailer space, a concession stand with fishing supplies and boat rentals, and other amenities operated by PGE's Promontory Park (open mid-May through mid-September). Additional facilities include campgrounds, picnic areas, and an ADA-accessible fishing platform, making this a well-developed recreation hub for water-based activities in the Clackamas River corridor.
