About This Access Site
**Location & Access Type**
North Lake Public Access is an earth ramp facility located in Red Wing, Goodhue County, on the Mississippi River. This is a shallow water access point designed primarily for small boats, kayaks, and canoes. As an MN DNR site, there are no launch fees unless a vehicle permit is required.

**Best For**
This access point works well for paddlers launching kayaks and canoes, as well as operators of small motorboats. The earth ramp and shallow water designation make it ideal for smaller vessels; larger boats (12+ feet) may have difficulty launching here. The site provides direct access to the scenic Upper Mississippi River Valley near Red Wing.

**Nearby Resources**
Paddlers should note that North Lake is located between two major Corps of Engineers project areas—Pool 2 (between St. Paul and Hastings) and Pool 4 (between Red Wing and Winona). Additional public access points and recreation areas are available nearby. Check the MN DNR's Recreation Compass or contact the DNR directly for current conditions, seasonal closures, and detailed amenities at this site.
