About This Access Site
The North Spit Boat Ramp provides convenient access to Coos Bay's scenic estuarine waters. Located on the northern spit of this sheltered bay, the facility features a full-size boat ramp with ample trailer parking and an undeveloped staging area. Access is straightforward: take U.S. Highway 101 north of North Bend and turn west onto Transpacific Parkway, then drive six miles to the launch area (stay left for the ramp).

**Important use restrictions apply:** The dry sand area is closed to all entry, and motorized vehicles are prohibited in wet sand areas from March 15 through September 15. Kayakers and canoeists will find excellent paddling opportunities in the protected estuary, with access to the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve located nearby in the sheltered southern arm of the bay. As always on coastal waters, be alert to ocean conditions and never turn your back to the water.

Several BLM-managed campgrounds operate within 10 miles of the ramp (Wild Mare Horse Camp, Horsfall Sand Camping, and Hauser Sand Camping), making this a good base for extended paddling trips or exploring the surrounding 10 miles of hiking trails and beach recreation areas.
