About This Access Site
The North Sylamore Creek boat ramp provides access to the White River, a major headwater stream in northern Arkansas. The ramp is located within the Gunner Pool Recreation Area, offering a scenic, shaded campground along the creek. While the recreation area does not have electrical or water hookups, it provides a convenient launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats.

The White River is a substantial waterway, extending over 1,000 miles with an average flow of nearly 35,000 cubic feet per second. Boaters can expect a moderate current, with an average gradient of 7.4 feet per mile. The river is rated as a Stream Order 10, indicating it is a major river system comparable to the Mississippi or Missouri.

Access to the boat ramp is off of Arkansas Highway 14, approximately 14 miles west of Mountain View. The gravel Forest Service Road 1102 leads directly to the ramp, but it is not recommended for large trailers or RVs. Nearby campgrounds at Gunner Pool, Barkshed, and Blanchard Springs provide additional options for overnight stays in this scenic Ozark region.
