About This Access Site
The Norwood boat ramp provides access to Lake Tillery, a major impoundment on the Pee Dee River system in Stanly County, NC (approximately 51 miles north of Charlotte). This is a basic access point with approximately 40 unpaved parking spaces for vehicles and trailers. Note that there are no restrooms or fishing pier facilities at this site, so plan accordingly.

Lake Tillery is a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, and recreational boating, with good opportunities for fishing (crappie, catfish, bass, and bream are common). The Pee Dee River system is substantial—a major river with an average flow of over 9,000 cubic feet per second—so paddlers should be prepared for current and water conditions typical of a large river system. The area offers additional recreation opportunities nearby, including Morrow Mountain State Park with hiking and bridle trails, and the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge is in the vicinity, making this a good base for exploring the region's natural areas.
