Nyssa River Park offers a public boat ramp on the Oregon side of the Snake River near Nyssa in Malheur County. The ramp and dock face the Idaho side of the river and provide access to one of the Pacific Northwest's major waterways. This site is part of the Idaho-Oregon Snake River Water Trail, with plans underway for improvements including enhanced ramp facilities, boat docks, and restrooms.
The Snake River at this location is a substantial, fast-moving waterway—a major river (stream order 9) with an average flow of nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second and average velocity of 10.8 feet/second. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for strong current and significant gradient (15.8 ft/mile average). Water levels fluctuate seasonally, which may affect launch conditions. This is an ideal access point for experienced kayakers and canoeists familiar with moving water, as well as motorboats operating on this section of the Snake River.
The site is managed as part of a larger recreation network along the Upper Snake River reach. Public boat launches in this area are designated by BLM/USFS signage. Visitors should verify current conditions and any specific regulations before launching, particularly regarding high and low water periods that can affect ramp usability.
